Part One · Diagnosis · Section 06
The hinge: why dominance requires more than performance media
Performance advertising works by capturing demand that already exists. At the brand level, this category has almost none. The channels tested so far are built to capture demand, so directing more money to them against demand that has not been built repeats the result already seen, at higher cost.
The pivot
Dominance, as defined, means building demand where little exists and attaching it to a brand that holds equity.
That is a demand-building and brand task. It is reached through mental and physical availability, built over time.
Mental availability
Mental availability is how readily the brand comes to mind when someone considers a charter.
Physical availability
Physical availability is how easily they can find and book it once it does.
Both are built across channels that reach well beyond digital advertising: the owned vessels as a physical experience of the brand, events and relationship-building, referral turned into a deliberate system, earned attention, and the open organic and AI answer estate that the category has left empty. Performance channels take their place within this as the means of capturing demand once it exists.
Part Two sets out the strategy on this basis.
