Part Three · Execution · Section 11

Channel architecture

Channels are chosen by attention, not by reach alone.

The strategy runs on two jobs (Section 10). One builds memory against the entry points so the brand is known ahead of the buying moment. The other keeps the brand present and easy to reach when the moment comes.

Mental availability is built by encoding the brand into memory, and memory encoding depends on attention. An impression that is served and scrolled past does little. An impression that holds a person’s active attention does the work. Attention per impression varies widely by channel, a finding from the attention research of Karen Nelson-Field and Amplified Intelligence, where high-attention exposure built memory far more efficiently than low-attention exposure. That research measured its own set of categories, so the exact figures stand as illustration, though the principle holds and it governs the chart below.

Funded first

The channels that command attention

  • The moving image on a watched or cinema screen
  • The spoken word in a podcast
  • The live, immersive settings of events and the owned fleet

Supporting roles

Low attention per impression

Valued for targeting, retargeting and low-cost reach, with a lighter hand in building memory.

FigureThe mental-availability budget follows attention

This ordering suits the situation twice over, because the budget is modest and the audience is bounded, so attention quality earns more than a volume of cheap impressions would.

Every channel below is placed by the job it does and marked Core, Selective or Out. Core channels are funded from the start. Selective channels are used in a narrow, defined way or held to a later phase. Out channels are set aside, with the reason recorded so the choice is deliberate.

Two charts follow, digital and beyond digital, because the strategy depends on both (Section 6).

Digital channels

ChannelJobStatusReason
Online video (YouTube, connected TV)MentalCoreThe highest-attention digital channel available, and luxury carries on the moving image. Video brings the brand to the future audience on the screens they watch closely.
Podcasts and digital audioMentalCoreHost-read podcast placement holds attention in a focused, spoken setting, and the audience of executives and founders listens. Streaming audio plays a lighter, background role beneath it.
Organic social (Instagram, vessel accounts)Mental and physicalCoreThe luxury brand's visual home. It builds recognition against the entry points and gives the audience a place to follow the brand.
Digital PRMental and physicalCoreEarns coverage in online publications, which drives reach and, through the links those articles carry, builds the domain authority that lifts SEO and AEO. It answers the authority gap directly (Part One), where the domain holds none.
SEO and organic searchPhysicalCoreHolds the estate the category leaves contestable, so the brand is present the moment a person searches.
Answer-engine presence (AEO)PhysicalCoreThe category's AI answer estate is close to empty (Part One). Early presence takes a channel with almost no competition.
The websitePhysicalCoreThe place the brand is found, understood and booked. Ease of enquiry is the point where interest becomes a lead.
Paid social (Meta)SupportSelectiveLow active attention per impression, so it supports rather than leads. Its value is precise targeting of the bounded audience, retargeting, and amplifying content and social proof.
Paid search (Google)PhysicalSelectiveNarrowed to brand defence and a tight set of high-intent terms. The category buys through relationships, so paid search captures the small in-market slice while carrying none of the strategy.
Email and CRMOperationalSelectiveConfirmation, transactional and feedback comms, with ad hoc sends for new yachts and for content that belongs to the content strategy. A service and distribution channel, held clear of a nurture-demand role.
Programmatic displayMentalSelectiveTested previously and returned nothing. Held to premium, curated placements in luxury environments, where it supports brand context.
PinterestMentalOutA broad consumer discovery surface. The bounded audience of executives and high net worth individuals sits thin against its reach, so the effort earns little here.
TikTokMentalOutThe audience sits outside TikTok's core. Effort here reaches few of the right people.

Beyond digital

ChannelJobStatusReason
The owned fleet as experienceMental and physicalCoreThe highest-attention setting of all, live and immersive, and a place the brand is lived directly, which the competitors lack. It is the venue for hosted events and a content asset that feeds video, social and PR.
Events and hospitalityMental and physicalCoreLive attention and a relationship-led purchase. Hosted events and presence where the audience already gathers build the relationships that produce bookings.
Referral, systematisedPhysicalCoreReferral is the current source of the business. A deliberate programme scales the one thing already working.
PartnershipsMental and physicalCoreLuxury adjacencies such as private aviation, wealth management, luxury automotive and private members' clubs reach the same bounded audience through trusted intermediaries.
Brand and editorial PRMentalCoreCoverage in Australian and luxury titles builds credibility and name recognition at low direct cost. It runs alongside digital PR, which carries the link-earning role.
Print and out-of-homeMentalSelectiveLuxury print holds high dwell and attention, and a bounded audience allows targeted placement in the few places they pass through: marinas, private lounges, member clubs, and a small set of titles. Held to a later phase against budget.
CinemaMentalSelectiveThe highest-attention moving-image setting, a dark room and a captive audience. Held to flagship or seasonal placement in affluent locations against the modest budget and bounded audience.

Read together, the two charts describe one system.

The high-attention channels, digital and beyond, build demand against the 95 percent of the audience who will charter later. The physical-availability channels capture that demand as it arrives, along with the demand that already exists. The supporting channels sharpen and distribute the work of the others. The sections that follow work through each Core component in turn: what it does, how it is built, and what it needs.
